Senior Computational Scientist - Trustworthy AI

Responsibilities

• Expand and co-lead a world-class research program in Trustworthy AI, advancing the scientific foundations of reliable and responsible AI systems.
• Drive cross-disciplinary research combining machine learning, statistics, causal inference, and optimization to address explainability, robustness, and fairness.
• Develop novel methodologies for auditing and validating AI systems, including large language models and foundation models.
• Build and coordinate a collaborative research team, providing scientific leadership and mentoring to junior scientists and postdoctoral fellows.
• Establish strategic partnerships with universities, industry, and government organizations to initiate joint programs and collaborative platforms.
• Publish research results in leading scientific journals and conferences and represent ADIA Lab at major international events.
• Develop open-source software, benchmark datasets, and evaluation frameworks to advance the Trustworthy AI ecosystem.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• 5+ years of post-PhD research experience with a demonstrated ability to conduct and coordinate complex research.
• Expertise in Trustworthy AI domains such as explainability, robustness, fairness, or safety.
• Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks including Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Strong publication record in top-tier AI venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven record of leading a research group or major multidisciplinary project in AI or machine learning.
• Experience evaluating and deploying ML systems in high-stakes domains like healthcare, finance, or climate science.
• Deep understanding of modern AI architectures, including foundation models and reinforcement learning.
• Experience with high-performance computing environments and large-scale AI training systems.
• Experience engaging with policymakers, industry partners, or international research collaborations.
