Senior Compliance and Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle, bi-weekly payroll including timecard review and follow-up
• Maintain accurate payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes
• Administer payroll-related deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and 401(k) plans
• Ensure payroll allocations are accurately coded to grants, departments, and programs
• Collaborate with Finance to reconcile payroll with general ledger accounts
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and payroll regulations
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, timekeeping, and benefits
• Design, implement, and improve operational systems, workflows, and SOPs
• Manage departmental vendor relationships and support procurement processes
• Conduct regular audits of employee databases including ADP and Employee Navigator

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in payroll and HR operations
• Expertise in payroll processing and 401(k) procedures
• Experience with ADP, Employee Navigator, and Sage Intacct or similar platforms
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets) or Microsoft Office Suite
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) non-profit
• Familiarity with project management tools like Monday.com
• Experience working in a unionized environment or with collective bargaining agreements
