Senior Communications Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert on SIP architecture, VoIP, and Ribbon infrastructure (SBC, SLB, PSX, RAMP)
• Architect and implement large-scale solutions requiring functional integration across the PSTN and UCaaS stack
• Make custom modifications to SIP infrastructure for bug fixes, new features, and PSTN carrier integration
• Design and develop Python-based automation tools, scripts, and frameworks to streamline operations and monitoring
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex SIP issues using deep packet-level analysis
• Drive lifecycle management of voice systems, including capacity planning and end-of-life strategies
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and lead code and design reviews
• Collaborate with vendors and carrier teams to deliver integrated solutions

Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience designing, configuring, and managing SIP network elements in production
• Expert-level knowledge of VoIP protocols including SIP (UDP, TCP & TLS), RTP, SRTP, RTCP, and DNS
• Deep expertise in managing and troubleshooting Ribbon SLB/SBC/PSX clusters at scale
• Strong proficiency in Python for automation, tooling, and scripting
• Hands-on experience with AWS public cloud infrastructure
• Proven ability to troubleshoot end-to-end call flows and resolve complex network issues
• Solid working knowledge of Linux operating systems and administration

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with OpenSIPS or Kamailio configuration and development
• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Ansible or Terraform
• Experience with observability stacks like Kibana or Grafana
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code in a telecom environment
