Senior Commercial Analyst - Trading & Shipping

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain refinery yield, crude-slate, and margin models to anticipate shifts in refinery behavior and product output.
• Deliver bottom-up refining supply models and consistent product-supply forecasts.
• Produce timely, concise fundamental views on product balances, crude demand, and margin trends.
• Provide actionable, trade-focused insights to help the desk capture value across crude and products.
• Monitor macro and micro factors including geopolitics, OPEC+ policy, weather, and feedstock economics.
• Collaborate with Data Product and Data Science teams to support the T&S Data Analytics Roadmap.
• Publish weekly and monthly market commentary and engage with cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of oil market analysis experience, preferably in an oil trading and refining environment.
• Deep expertise in refinery configurations, crude qualities, yield optimization, and margin structures.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate complex fundamentals into tradeable insights.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and traders.
• Proven ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced market environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, VBA, Python, and SQL.
• Experience with data visualization tools.
• Experience with refinery-run forecasting or crude-slate analysis.
