Senior Coatings Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance on coatings for production and engineer-to-order projects
• Interpret and review client and project coating specifications
• Liaise with suppliers and contractors to develop effective coating solutions
• Verify surface preparation methods and cleanliness standards
• Carry out inspections of coating applications to ensure compliance
• Monitor environmental conditions and measure wet/dry film thickness (WFT/DFT)
• Conduct and witness testing, including adhesion, curing, and holiday detection
• Identify non-conformances and implement corrective actions
• Maintain detailed inspection reports, records, and coating dossiers
• Act with authority to stop work where quality or safety standards are at risk

Requirements

• Strong experience in coating inspection and surface treatment
• Proven experience with industrial coatings on steel or metallic substrates
• Engineering degree, HND, or HNC (or equivalent STEM qualification)
• One of the following certifications: FROSIO Level 3, AMPP CIP Level 2 or 3, ICorr Level 2 or 3, or DIN Certified Coating Inspector
• Experience in quality-driven environments (Oil & Gas, Energy, Marine, or Heavy Engineering preferred)
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and continuous improvement methodologies is desirable
