About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for coastal engineering and resilience practice across California and beyond
- Contribute to annual and long-term strategic planning for the coastal engineering practice
- Mentor and manage junior staff and oversee engineering QA/QC protocols
- Identify market opportunities and lead strategies to link resilience planning with coastal sciences
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hydrologists, ecologists, and landscape architects
- Plan, design, and manage projects involving coastal risk assessment, sea level rise vulnerability, and Living Shorelines design
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience leading coastal engineering projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in California, Washington, and/or Oregon
- Expertise in nature-based solutions and coastal resilience planning
- Experience with coastal hazards analysis (waves, runup, erosion, and flooding)
- Proven ability to manage complex projects from concept through construction (PS&E packages)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in coastal engineering or a closely related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating coastal engineering with planning, economics, and resilience strategy
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary design and engineering teams
