About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for coastal engineering and resilience practice across California and beyond
  • Contribute to annual and long-term strategic planning for the coastal engineering practice
  • Mentor and manage junior staff and oversee engineering QA/QC protocols
  • Identify market opportunities and lead strategies to link resilience planning with coastal sciences
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hydrologists, ecologists, and landscape architects
  • Plan, design, and manage projects involving coastal risk assessment, sea level rise vulnerability, and Living Shorelines design

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience leading coastal engineering projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California, Washington, and/or Oregon
  • Expertise in nature-based solutions and coastal resilience planning
  • Experience with coastal hazards analysis (waves, runup, erosion, and flooding)
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects from concept through construction (PS&E packages)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in coastal engineering or a closely related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating coastal engineering with planning, economics, and resilience strategy
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary design and engineering teams
