Senior Climate Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software in C for automotive ECUs
• Architect and develop control systems for HVAC including airflow and comfort models
• Orchestrate HVAC software architecture and feature design
• Collaborate with cabin comfort teams to drive unified solutions across programs
• Review requirements and produce high-level functional specification designs
• Create test cases and scripts for unit, SIL, and HIL test environments
• Develop diagnostic interfaces for controllers to facilitate troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot functional problems across physical, electrical, and software domains
• Oversee multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications
• Mentor and guide junior engineers within the engineering team

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering
• 3+ years of experience in controls development, integration, or calibration
• Knowledge of control theory principles and algorithm design (PID tuning, compensator design)
• Familiarity with heat transfer, thermodynamics, and human comfort
• Familiarity with HVAC components like water pumps, AC compressors, and blower fans
• Development experience using C, C++, Rust, and/or Python
• Experience with firmware integration, calibration, and vehicle-level testing
• Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, Doors) and issue tracking (Jira)
• Experience with communication bus monitoring (Vector CANalyzer) and calibration tools (CANape, INCA)
• Experience with automated testing (Pytest, OpenHTF) in SIL/HIL environments
• Willingness to travel up to 10%
