Senior Chemist

Responsibilities

• Independently lead formulation projects based on product briefs from the Product Development team
• Create and adjust batches to meet formula specification requirements and feedback from testing
• Maintain accurate records of formulations, procedures, observations, and stability testing results
• Calculate specification ranges and create Certificates of Analysis (CofAs) for formulas
• Manage raw material inventory, including ordering samples and maintaining documentation from vendors
• Maintain formulation software and ensure accurate data entry for raw materials
• Supervise scale-up batches at Contract Manufacturers, providing technical instructions and recommendations
• Calibrate laboratory equipment and contribute to routine laboratory housekeeping and operations
• Communicate technical information effectively with Product Development, Operations, Quality, and Regulatory teams

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent scientific field
• 5+ years of experience as a formulation or bench chemist in a personal care laboratory
• Hands-on experience using mixers, homogenizers, viscometers, and pH meters
• Strong knowledge of raw material functionality, ingredient listing, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Proficiency in maintaining formulation software or databases (including CAS, INCI, and cost information)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priority projects independently
• Willingness to travel to contract manufacturer sites to supervise scale-up batches

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience formulating OTC (Over-the-Counter) products
