Senior Casualty Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and existing casualty business, including public and product liability, within set guidelines and authority levels
• Manage and develop key broker relationships through consistent visitation and high-level customer service
• Execute new business opportunities and implement distribution strategies to maximize underwriting opportunities
• Prepare reports on portfolio performance and maintain credit control of business within the portfolio
• Mentor, train, and provide guidance to junior underwriters and support management in overseeing team work
• Ensure all documentation, underwriting notes, and rating processes are accurate, complete, and compliant with organizational standards
• Participate in audits, peer review processes, and other compliance requirements
• Collaborate with senior management on future product development and underwriting strategy

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of the Australian insurance regulatory and compliance environment
• Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong negotiation skills and an active market presence
• Sound analytical skills with high attention to detail and the ability to solve complex underwriting problems
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team
