About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead procurement efforts for high-value, technical, or strategic commodities and services
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies, vendor selection processes, and cost-saving initiatives
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements
- Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to meet production needs
- Track and expedite complex purchase orders and proactively update delivery schedules
- Resolve supplier-related issues including claims, rejections, and engineering changes
- Analyze supplier performance metrics and conduct site visits to evaluate compliance
- Monitor market trends and perform make-versus-buy analysis
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers or procurement staff
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or technical environment
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated ability to perform price/cost analysis and contract negotiations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PMAC, ISM, or APICS certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM, CPIM)
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
