Senior Buyer

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement efforts for high-value, technical, or strategic commodities and services
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies, vendor selection processes, and cost-saving initiatives
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements
• Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to meet production needs
• Track and expedite complex purchase orders and proactively update delivery schedules
• Resolve supplier-related issues including claims, rejections, and engineering changes
• Analyze supplier performance metrics and conduct site visits to evaluate compliance
• Monitor market trends and perform make-versus-buy analysis
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers or procurement staff

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of progressive purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or technical environment
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated ability to perform price/cost analysis and contract negotiations
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• PMAC, ISM, or APICS certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM, CPIM)
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
