About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the Site’s Capital Project portfolio by providing technical and leadership expertise in business case development and economic evaluations
- Assess opportunities consistent with business strategies, plans, and needs to support project development
- Lead the identification of potential business options and perform preliminary competitive assessments
- Coordinate the development of scoping cost and schedule estimates in collaboration with other organizations
- Develop comprehensive economics and business cases, including sensitivity analysis on project viability
- Lead process optimization studies to identify capital or operational cost savings and process configuration alternatives
- Facilitate Project Gates and coordinate the development and approval of Gate Forms and Appropriation Requests
- Provide facility engineering input to ensure safety, reliability, and operability requirements are met
- Engage with Business Teams to align on capital project prioritization within the assigned site
Requirements
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent degree
- 10-15 years of direct capital project development experience supporting a manufacturing site
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge and experience in general refining or chemical processes
- Working knowledge of carrying out project economic evaluations for investment
- Experience with process design standards and good engineering judgment to mitigate hazards
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, collaborative team environment
