Senior Building Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Building Automation and BMS within a major CHF 100M+ CAPEX pharmaceutical project
• Lead the design, specification, and implementation of building automation systems, including HVAC, utility controls, fire protection, and access control
• Define and review automation concepts, system architectures, and interfaces between BMS, PLC, SCADA, and IT systems
• Develop and review key lifecycle documentation such as URS, FS, DS, and commissioning/qualification strategies
• Ensure strict compliance with GMP, GAMP5, Annex 1/11, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity requirements
• Coordinate external engineering companies, system integrators, and vendors
• Oversee commissioning, qualification (CQV), and validation activities
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, IT/OT, CSV, and Quality functions to ensure seamless integration

Requirements

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Technology, or an equivalent field
• 8–10+ years of experience in building or industrial automation
• Proven track record in large CAPEX projects within pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environments
• Deep expertise in Building Management Systems (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls)
• Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and DCS integration
• Proficiency in industrial communication protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and OPC
• Solid understanding of GMP, GAMP5, CSV processes, and Commissioning & Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
• Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a strong advantage
