About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage the County’s budget cycle, serving as a bridge between adopted budgets and long-range financial planning
  • Analyze complex financial data, monitor budget performance, and develop forecasts to inform executive leadership
  • Evaluate countywide revenues and expenditures, identifying trends and variances to support strategic planning
  • Build advanced financial models to support capital budgeting and ongoing operational decision-making
  • Partner with department managers to solve complex budget challenges and align resources with County priorities
  • Prepare complex reports and recommendations for senior executives and managers
  • Implement innovations and refinements in the budget process, including the creation of computer applications and automated reporting tools

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business/Public Management, or a closely related field
  • 3-5 years of professional administrative and budgetary experience involving fiscal, economic, or operational data analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills and expertise in financial modeling
  • Proven ability to translate complex quantitative data into clear, actionable insights

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying industry best practices from GFOA, MSRC, WFOA, or ICMA
  • Experience developing dashboards and automating financial reporting tools
  • Strong understanding of public sector finance and organizational dynamics
