Senior Bioinformatics Scientist

Responsibilities

• Lead complex research and development projects as a bioinformatics lead, providing technical expertise in genomics and NGS.
• Develop, plan, and analyze results of experiments to support the development of diagnostic assay products.
• Manage bench-generated data and bioinformatics outputs within high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing environments.
• Independently develop methods, procedures, and technical protocols for new assignments and studies.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior scientists and research associates within project teams.
• Communicate findings and project insights through high-quality presentations, scientific abstracts, and technical reports.
• Contribute to the company's intellectual property portfolio through innovative problem-solving and process improvements.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in bioinformatics within academia or industry.
• 3+ years of experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or medical device/IVD industry.
• Extensive experience with Linux-based HPC or cloud computing environments.
• Proficiency in writing custom code in at least three programming or scripting languages.
• Deep technical knowledge of NGS, genomics, molecular biology, or biochemistry.
• Proficiency with statistical software such as R or JMP.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience with variant calling (SNV/CNV/SV) and algorithm/pipeline development.
• Proficiency with NextFlow for creating NGS pipelines.
• Experience using AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Background in molecular diagnostics, clinical laboratory settings, or product development.
• Experience with whole exome, targeted panels, or comprehensive genomic profiling.
• Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications.
