Senior Backend Infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend systems and infrastructure
• Improve performance, reliability, and efficiency across services and databases
• Optimize Postgres, caching layers, background job systems, and APIs
• Own and improve cloud infrastructure and deployment systems on GCP
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and operational dashboards
• Strengthen application and infrastructure security across the stack
• Partner with product and engineering teams to support new feature development
• Mentor engineers on backend architecture and operational excellence

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in backend systems, infrastructure, or platform engineering
• Strong experience operating scalable production systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Proficiency with GCP services like Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL, and Pub/Sub
• Strong experience with Python and Django
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD, observability, and distributed systems
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automated deployments
• Experience optimizing Postgres performance and database design

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling consumer social or marketplace products
• Experience with asynchronous systems and job queues
• Experience building internal developer platforms or tooling
• Experience at high-growth startups
