Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain application-level data models for rich content
• Build high-reliability ETLs and streaming pipelines for usage events and analytics
• Develop data services and metadata access APIs
• Implement fingerprinting pipelines for deduplication and safety checks
• Own data consistency across ingestion systems and application surfaces
• Define and track operational metrics like latency and accuracy
• Collaborate with Product, ML Research, and Analytics teams
• Operate large analytical workloads in BigQuery
• Improve reliability through robust schema evolution and idempotent pipelines

Requirements

• Experience building production backend services and APIs at scale
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and event processing systems
• Strong background in data modeling and metadata systems
• Proficiency in Python, Go, and SQL
• Experience with scalable data-processing frameworks like Dataflow/Beam or Spark
• Familiarity with BigQuery or other analytical data warehouses
• Experience with event-driven architectures and Pub/Sub or Kafka
• Strong understanding of data quality and schema evolution
• Ability to design pipelines balancing cost, latency, and scale

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building application-facing microservices
• Background in information retrieval or search infrastructure
• Experience with fingerprinting, perceptual hashing, or content-matching
• Familiarity with ML workflows and research pipelines
• Understanding of batch and streaming architectures
• Experience with Next.js or React Native
