Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable services and APIs to drive existing and new features for web applications
• Architect and maintain robust backend systems, database models, and infrastructure
• Analyze product requirements and produce high-quality, production-ready code
• Maintain system health, refactor codebase, and ensure system resilience
• Jump into frontend code when needed to support the team and ship features end-to-end
• Take full ownership of product workflows from design to deployment
• Collaborate with product and design partners to lead new initiatives
• Write clear specs and drive large releases on a continuous deployment cadence

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in backend development
• Experience working in a start-up environment
• Expertise in TypeScript and Node.js
• Strong fundamentals in API design, database architecture, and distributed systems
• Comfort with React and frontend technologies
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence product direction
• Extreme bias toward action and execution
• Must be based in the United States
