Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain shared backend platform services including IAM/RBAC SDKs, AI SDK wrappers, notification services, and event buses
• Own the API gateway implementation, including routing, authentication, rate limiting, and observability
• Implement service mesh configuration for inter-service communication using mTLS and circuit breakers
• Design and implement shared event bus patterns using SQS or Kafka
• Build AI SDK integration layers for secure and consistent LLM API calls
• Set and maintain code quality standards through code reviews and mentoring
• Implement observability instrumentation using OpenTelemetry and structured logging

Requirements

• 6 to 8 years of experience in backend engineering
• Proven experience building shared services, SDKs, or platform components consumed by other engineering teams
• Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture
• Experience with API gateway configuration and service mesh management
• Proficiency in REST API design (OpenAPI) and event-driven architecture (SQS/Kafka)
• Experience with IAM, OAuth2, and RBAC implementation
• Active use of AI development tools like Cursor and Claude
• Knowledge of distributed tracing and contract testing

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kotlin and AWS (API Gateway, SQS, Lambda)
• Experience with Kong, Envoy, or Kafka
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
