Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance, scalable microservices using Java 17+ and Spring Boot
• Own end-to-end API design including versioning, idempotency, and OpenAPI specifications
• Architect microservices following bounded contexts and saga patterns
• Integrate and manage event-driven systems using Apache Kafka
• Optimize application and database performance through JVM tuning and SQL query optimization
• Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems within AWS
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and participate in on-call rotations
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, and documentation workflows

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building backend services in Java
• Advanced proficiency in Java 17+ and expert-level Spring Boot knowledge
• Strong experience with microservices architecture and REST API design
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS cloud services
• Solid understanding of security best practices including OAuth2 and JWT
• BS in Engineering or Computer Science

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS or other cloud platform certifications
• Experience with Redis caching strategies
• Knowledge of resilience patterns using Resilience4j
• Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
