Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale the Notes Execution Platform to enable seamless execution of internal and external code.
• Architect sandboxed environments to run untrusted or user-supplied code with appropriate resource quotas and security controls.
• Develop backend services and APIs to manage job lifecycles including scheduling, monitoring, and logging.
• Ensure system resilience and horizontal scalability.
• Integrate the Notes platform with Lyric’s data platform and ML workflows.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver intuitive developer experiences.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience building distributed systems or platform infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in Python, Go, Java, or similar backend languages.
• Experience designing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of secure code execution, sandboxing, and resource quota enforcement.
• Familiarity with distributed job queues and task orchestration (Celery, Airflow, or Kubernetes Jobs).
• Proven ability to build performant, resilient, and observable systems at scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building notebook-like platforms such as JupyterHub or Databricks.
• Exposure to data and ML platforms and their unique execution needs.
• Experience with multi-tenant systems and securing shared infrastructure.
