Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale backend systems that support high-throughput LLM interactions, vector search, and multi-agent orchestration
• Stitch together AI infrastructure across model providers, data stores, and internal APIs
• Own system reliability and observability, evolving database and job orchestration systems
• Prototype new backend capabilities including retrieval pipelines, caching layers, and async task queues
• Contribute to product decisions and help shape the engineering culture

Requirements

• Based in New York City (this is a 5 days a week in-person role)
• Proficient in TypeScript and Next.js
• Proficient in PostgreSQL
• Experience leading technical projects end-to-end
• Strong interest in the intersection of AI infrastructure and systems design

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with retrieval, embeddings, or prompt orchestration
• Experience building internal infrastructure or developer tools at startups
• Experience with ClickHouse or complex distributed systems
