Senior Backend Engineer - Image Processing

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Cloudinary’s core transformation services using Ruby on Rails
• Optimize system workload, performance, and cost-efficiency
• Maintain and update image processing pipelines using C++, open source, and in-house tools
• Develop custom transformations leveraging research, open source, or commercial solutions
• Provide 2nd-tier support and participate in team and company-wide on-call rotations
• Address internal customer inquiries and resolve complex technical questions

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience (or exceptional equivalent talent)
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and C++
• Experience with image or video processing (a strong advantage)
• Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS
• Data-driven mindset with experience using monitoring and data warehouse tools to guide development
