Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Deliver complex technical initiatives independently within high-availability, mission-critical systems
• Lead technical reviews and contribute to architectural decisions, specifically driving TypeScript/Node.js migrations
• Champion AI-assisted development by using tools like Cursor and Claude; mentor teammates on effective practices and prompt engineering
• Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Own operational excellence by maintaining and improving SLOs, observability, and comprehensive documentation

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with deep proficiency in production-grade TypeScript and Node.js
• Distributed systems expertise in high-traffic environments, including API design, monitoring, and advanced debugging
• AI-Native workflow experience, including hands-on integration of AI coding tools into the daily development cycle
• Strong communication skills and a proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration
• Ability to set engineering quality bars through code reviews, testing strategy, security, and performance optimization

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling E-commerce or marketplace platforms
• Background in Java to support modernization and refactoring projects
• Open source contributions or practical experience with AI/ML integration
• Experience owning systems end-to-end, from design and development to rollout and post-production support
• Strong fundamentals in data modeling, system performance optimization, and resilience patterns
