Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define clear service boundaries and deliver core features for our Kotlin server
• Build out AI enablement for common tasks to improve team workflows
• Optimize the performance of high-contention data models
• Design and build new APIs used by our website and mobile applications
• Collaborate with product teams to continuously improve the customer experience

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Kotlin or Java
• Deep understanding of NewSQL relational databases, such as CockroachDB
• Experience with API design and building scalable backend services
• Proven ability to use AI to automate large-scale quality improvements in codebases
• Experience working with AWS and modern cloud infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Hibernate, Guice, or Jersey
• Familiarity with Protocol Buffers and JSON
• Experience improving engineering productivity across multiple teams
