Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build new backend services and data models to power member-facing gamification and engagement features.
• Architect new relational models from the ground up, documenting decisions via ADRs.
• Build and evolve APIs and BFF endpoints consumed by the mobile app.
• Manage large-scale data migrations and backfills on high-volume tables.
• Implement privacy-by-design principles, ensuring GDPR compliance and safe multi-tenant data handling.
• Integrate with background/event-driven processing and notification systems.
• Ensure all services are scalable, reliable, and thoroughly tested end-to-end.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Python (Django) and PostgreSQL at scale.
• Deep expertise in relational data modeling and managing migrations on high-volume datasets.
• Proven experience in a startup or scale-up environment, ideally within B2B SaaS.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and take ownership of greenfield systems.
• High standards for code quality, maintainability, and testing.
• Fluency in English with strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building consumer or member-facing products.
• Experience with security-sensitive features and multi-tenant data isolation.
• Familiarity with React Native to collaborate effectively with mobile engineers.
