Senior Backend Engineer

About the Company

Antithesis makes software that finds the bugs your engineers couldn't. They run entire systems in a deterministic simulation to provide root causes and perfect reproductions, reinventing software reliability in the age of AI-generated code.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core platform systems including backend infrastructure, data processing pipelines, and storage layers
• Contribute to Pangolin, a purpose-built database designed for the platform
• Build and evolve foundational platform primitives such as data access layers and authorization frameworks
• Own reliability end-to-end, from system design to incident response and on-call rotation
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and mentor other engineers

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience building APIs, services, storage engines, query engines, or data-intensive backend systems
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, consistency, fault tolerance, and replication
• Hands-on experience designing and shipping APIs with attention to correctness
• Strong fundamentals in correctness, test coverage, and well-designed abstractions

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Rust
• Experience with query planning or optimization
• Multi-tenant platform or authorization background
• Familiarity with C/C++
• Open-source contributions
