Responsibilities

• Take ownership of complex backend systems from design through production, including architecture, implementation, and maintenance
• Lead technical discussions, drive engineering decisions, and document trade-offs
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and pairing sessions
• Identify and execute improvements to infrastructure, observability, reliability, and performance
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and data teams to align technical direction with business goals
• Participate in technical interviews to help define the engineering bar

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience owning critical production systems
• Deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and strong familiarity with Python
• Proven experience designing distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and microservices
• Strong command of PostgreSQL and cloud-native infrastructure on AWS
• Experience navigating hypergrowth or scaling challenges
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments
