Senior Backend and Data Engineer

About the Company

Condor is building the financial intelligence layer for clinical development. We connect clinical operations, vendor activity, and financial signals into a single, real-time intelligence layer, helping biopharma companies manage complex R&D environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for financial and clinical trial data
• Develop backend services and data access layers for internal systems and customer features
• Implement embedding pipelines and vectorized representations for RAG and agentic workflows
• Optimize database performance, query execution, and batch processing jobs
• Participate in architectural decisions regarding data infrastructure and LLM integration
• Work with product managers to translate business requirements into durable datasets and APIs
• Contribute to frontend implementations to ensure data-heavy features are presented correctly
• Mentor engineers on data modeling, SQL optimization, and ETL design patterns

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Deep expertise in SQL and relational database design (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines with orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or AWS Step Functions)
• Production experience with AI-powered data systems, vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone), and RAG workflows
• Pragmatic full-stack approach including willingness to contribute to React codebases
• Familiarity with data quality validation, testing, and monitoring
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and web frameworks like Django or DRF
• Experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
• Experience integrating backend systems with LLM APIs
• Experience with dbt or Great Expectations
• Experience building production AI features end-to-end
• Experience in a Series A-C startup environment
