Senior Back End Engineer

Responsibilities

• Operate as a senior individual contributor on the backend services team, owning production for distributed systems at real-time scale
• Carry the on-call rotation for Zello's most critical infrastructure and lead incident response
• Build observability using Grafana and Loki, setting SLOs and instrumenting services
• Ship production C++ and contribute to Rust and Go components
• Work hands-on across the database stack including Cassandra, MongoDB, and MySQL
• Contribute to the ground-up modernization of the platform (Backend 2.0)

Requirements

• Extensive experience with distributed systems at scale
• Years of experience shipping C++ in production
• Deep knowledge of at least one of Cassandra, MongoDB, or MySQL
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development workflows
• Experience with observability tools like Grafana and Loki
• Ability to take full production responsibility including on-call and incident response

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Rust or Go
• Experience with AI-native engineering workflows
