Senior Back End Engineer

Altruist is transforming the multi-trillion dollar wealth management industry by building an AI platform for wealth professionals. Hazel is a part of Altruist’s broader mission, building the AI engine for wealth management to unlock growth and efficiency for financial advisors.

Responsibilities

• Architect robust systems across data, model, and product layers
• Build scalable data pipelines to store, sync, and extract information from unstructured and structured data
• Optimize search and retrieval infrastructure for low latency responses
• Collaborate with product managers to build steerable AI systems
• Craft and maintain evaluation datasets and scoring modules
• Mentor other engineers and steward engineering best practices

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience with building ML systems at scale in production
• Experience with ranking/recommender systems, generative AI, or vector databases
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field
• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with statistical and mathematical underpinnings of machine learning and LLMs
