Senior Avionics Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and operational execution of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testbeds and automated test setups
• Develop vehicle-level avionics functional test plans, verification procedures, and automated test scripts
• Design and manufacture electrical Ground Support Equipment (GSE), breakout boxes, and custom test cables
• Perform system-level electrical integration testing, signal mapping, and bus health analysis
• Analyze avionics telemetry and sensor data during simulated flight profiles
• Lead investigation and troubleshooting of electrical failures and hardware-software anomalies
• Define environmental qualification test plans including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, and EMI/EMC
• Mentor junior test engineers in data-driven analysis and automated test architectures

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering
• 5+ years of experience testing high-reliability avionics or embedded systems
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis
• Experience with laboratory diagnostic equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers
• Experience building or operating HIL test beds or telemetry systems
• Deep understanding of analog/digital signal path debugging and serial communication protocols

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience qualifying hardware to military or aerospace environmental standards
• Familiarity with RF telemetry, high-voltage battery systems, and pyrotechnic trigger systems
• Experience with aerospace safety-critical systems or fault-tolerant architectures
• Prior experience in a fast-paced aerospace startup
