Senior Avionics System Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage requirements for FSS hardware and software from design through flight
• Develop requirements, verification, and control methods for avionics hardware
• Lead component qualification testing, environmental testing, and failure investigations
• Oversee FTS test rigs and procedures for end-to-end verification at launch sites
• Support launch operations by investigating hardware faults and reviewing flight data
• Develop processes and tools to automate pre and post flight data analysis
• Interface with NASA and FAA on certification activities and compliance documentation
• Drive process improvements in production, launch operations, and test infrastructure
• Mentor junior engineers and establish systems engineering documentation practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline
• 2+ years developing electronic systems through design, test, and qualification
• 2+ years experience in systems engineering and requirements management
• Hands-on hardware debugging skills with oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters
• Strong technical written communication skills
• Ability to work across hardware, software, manufacturing, and operations teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with safety-critical or certified systems
• Familiarity with Range Safety standards (RCC-319, RCC-324)
• Knowledge of flight termination systems, RF systems, or pyrotechnic devices
• Experience with environmental testing standards
• Programming skills in Python or MATLAB
• Experience with requirements management tools like Jama or DOORS
• Experience supporting launch campaigns or mission operations
