Senior Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor the Automation Engineering team to achieve facility operational goals
• Oversee the maintenance, design, and optimization of control systems and material handling equipment (MHE)
• Troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, etc.), and electrical distribution systems
• Act as the primary escalation point for technical issues, providing local and remote support for hardware and software
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Safety departments to optimize system performance and implement projects
• Perform failure analysis and incident reviews to implement process improvements and prevent future downtime
• Partner with vendors and leadership to plan and coordinate new technology installations and capital projects

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience
• Proficiency in programming software such as RSLogix5000 Studio and FT View
• Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems (480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, 24VDC)
• Strong knowledge of robotics, motor controls, VFDs, and HMI components
• Experience with SCADA systems, industrial networks, and interpreting mechanical/electrical drawings
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in systems controls design, programming, and integration
• Experience supporting various conveyor and sortation systems
• Background in field service engineering or remote technical phone support
• Experience with advanced automation controls, industrial robotics, and ASRS systems
