About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor the Automation Engineering team to achieve facility operational goals
- Oversee the maintenance, design, and optimization of control systems and material handling equipment (MHE)
- Troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, etc.), and electrical distribution systems
- Act as the primary escalation point for technical issues, providing local and remote support for hardware and software
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Safety departments to optimize system performance and implement projects
- Perform failure analysis and incident reviews to implement process improvements and prevent future downtime
- Partner with vendors and leadership to plan and coordinate new technology installations and capital projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience
- Proficiency in programming software such as RSLogix5000 Studio and FT View
- Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems (480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, 24VDC)
- Strong knowledge of robotics, motor controls, VFDs, and HMI components
- Experience with SCADA systems, industrial networks, and interpreting mechanical/electrical drawings
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in systems controls design, programming, and integration
- Experience supporting various conveyor and sortation systems
- Background in field service engineering or remote technical phone support
- Experience with advanced automation controls, industrial robotics, and ASRS systems
