About the role
Responsibilities
- Litigate agency and state court actions from the pleading stage through trial
- Try foreclosure cases for real estate taxes and municipal claims
- Handle real property market value and exemption appeal cases
- Represent the City in quiet title and conservatorship matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Research and analyze complex legal issues regarding tax legislation
- Attend Motions Court, pre-trial conferences, and Tax Review Board hearings
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of relevant legal experience
- Law degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar or eligible for reciprocity
- Ability to work onsite five days per week in Philadelphia
- Must become a Philadelphia resident within six months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in tax litigation or real estate law
- Strong trial and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage complex fact patterns and high-pressure situations
