Senior Associate, Network Control

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for a large nationwide network by monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting network problems within a 24/7 Network Operations Control Center (NOCC).
• Monitor network alarm conditions to proactively identify and minimize disruptions to the FAA network.
• Perform root cause analysis to determine action plans for restoring customer services.
• Employ test methods to analyze various technologies including T1, T3, Ethernet, IP, Frame Relay, ATM, WAN, LAN, SONET, and TDM.
• Assist Local Exchange Carriers (LEC), ILECs, and IXCs to resolve WAN problems and support onsite field technicians remotely.
• Support short-term emergency evacuations to local or remote backup facilities as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, OR a Graduate Degree with 0-2 years of experience, OR 6 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to obtain an FAA Public Trust or U.S. Government Security Clearance.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 onsite environment.
• Flexibility to work a 9/80 schedule and support emergency facility evacuations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with telecommunications network troubleshooting and Layer 1 troubleshooting.
• Experience with physical layer and routed technologies.
• Proficiency with Network Management systems and monitoring tools.
• Experience working with call center phone systems and geographically dispersed teams.
