Senior Associate, Manufacturing Engineer - Composites

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and maintain processes for the fabrication of advanced composite parts.
• Maintain and improve detailed work instructions, procedures, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to support part and tooling designs.
• Provide technical guidance and training to shop floor, design, and management teams.
• Perform investigations into nonconforming hardware and implement corrective actions.
• Support facility transition efforts for inert product lines at the new Advanced Manufacturing Facility.
• Present fabrication processes at customer readiness reviews and change board meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2 years of prior engineering experience, OR
• Graduate Degree and 0-2 years of prior engineering experience, OR
• Minimum of 6 years of prior engineering experience.
• Knowledge of composite fabrication processes.
• Ability to analyze engineering drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with composite tape wrap, hand layup, and material curing.
• Experience with surface preparation for primary substrates to bond rubber or composites.
• Knowledge of structural bonding of metallic and composite substrates.
• Experience with composite rocket motor nozzle fabrication.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling and GD&T for part validation.
• Experience operating composite cure ovens, autoclaves, tape wrap lathes, or CNC machines.
• Experience writing specifications for new manufacturing equipment.
