About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct cryptocurrency and blockchain investigations, including flow of funds, fraud schemes, and sanctions evasion.
- Reconcile off-chain data (emails, exchange records) with on-chain transaction data to build investigative narratives.
- Advise FinTech and cryptocurrency businesses on AML, KYC, transaction monitoring, and sanctions compliance.
- Prepare detailed workpapers, expert reports, memos, and visualizations to communicate technical findings to clients.
- Collaborate with engagement teams to assess AML and fraud risks associated with Web3 business models.
- Support business development through thought leadership, client alerts, and research for pitches and proposals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the cryptocurrency industry.
- Hands-on experience with blockchain analytics and transaction tracing tools such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic.
- Strong understanding of AML/BSA regulations, FinCEN requirements, and FFIEC guidelines.
- Proficiency in triaging large datasets using Microsoft Excel.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic achievement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet conflicting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Chainalysis Reactor, TRM Labs, or an equivalent blockchain forensics tool.
- Deep knowledge of smart contract technologies, DeFi, and underlying blockchain architecture.
- Experience in conducting traditional money laundering investigations alongside cryptocurrency forensics.
