About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise the Student Support Team and interns, overseeing training, professional development, and performance appraisals.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the Return to Columbia program, managing students returning from leaves of absence and suspensions.
- Provide comprehensive, non-clinical student support management, including resource referral and coordination of academic and community accommodations.
- Coordinate responses to students of concern experiencing academic, mental health, physical health, or social challenges.
- Develop and deliver training and outreach initiatives on topics such as behavioral intervention, bystander intervention, and assessing students in distress.
- Monitor national trends and emerging issues related to student basic needs to inform program strategy and service delivery.
- Collaborate with campus partners, including Deans of Students and Counseling and Psychological Services, to facilitate restorative justice and mediation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5-7 years of related experience in case management, student conduct, or a similar field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA, the Clery Act, and other relevant laws.
- Experience supporting diverse student populations, including low-socioeconomic and historically marginalized communities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise superior judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and detail-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in social work, higher education, student personnel administration, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
