Senior Asset Pipeline Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design the OpenUSD schema and composition strategy for a large, versioned 3D asset library
• Build and own automated pipelines moving assets between DCC tools and simulation engines
• Define automated validation gates to catch asset-integrity and fidelity issues in CI
• Solve material conversion for simulation by translating complex materials into USD-native representations
• Design asset metadata strategy for discovery, semantic labeling, and downstream tooling
• Manage the pipeline from design through production, ensuring observability and reliability

Requirements

• Deep, practical OpenUSD composition expertise (references, variants, payloads, inherits, specializes)
• Experience authoring and validating custom USD schemas
• Strong UsdShade material expertise including authoring and converting complex networks
• Proven experience building and owning automated DCC-to-engine pipelines in production using version-controlled Python
• Experience managing USD at library scale including versioning and namespace conventions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, or Kit extensions
• Proficiency with Houdini LOPs and procedural scene graphs
• Knowledge of MDL (Material Definition Language)
• Domain knowledge in sensor simulation (lidar, radar, camera outputs)
• Experience in automotive, defense, or robotics simulation contexts
