Senior Assessor/Biosecurity Field Officer

Responsibilities

• Conduct phytosanitary inspections of horticultural and forestry products for export certification
• Complete export certification, verification, and compliance activities
• Carry out audits and inspections of growers, exporters, suppliers, and MPI-approved organisations
• Assess compliance with industry quality assurance programmes
• Undertake log and forestry product inspections at port
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of inspection reports and certification records
• Support biosecurity surveillance through trap servicing, specimen collection, and field monitoring
• Build strong customer relationships and deliver services to agreed specifications

Requirements

• Experience in horticulture, forestry, agriculture, biosecurity, or related primary sector
• Qualification in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, science, or a related discipline
• Audit, inspection, certification, or compliance experience
• Knowledge of export certification, phytosanitary requirements, or biosecurity systems
• Full New Zealand driver's licence
• Physical fitness for field and port-based work
• Strong attention to detail and compliance decision-making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with computer and mobile technology
