Responsibilities

• Own ambiguous, high-stakes problems end-to-end, from framing to deployment
• Translate real-world healthcare and business constraints into clear objectives and decision frameworks
• Define metrics to validate solutions and ensure they work before shipping
• Choose appropriate methodologies including machine learning, optimization, heuristics, or expert systems
• Set quality standards through rigorous work reviews and the development of evaluation tooling
• Build deep expertise in the healthcare economy and its impact on Garner's products

Requirements

• 4+ years of industry experience as an Applied Scientist, ML Engineer, or Research Scientist (or 2+ years with an advanced degree)
• PhD preferred
• Strong applied problem-solving skills and ability to define effective metrics
• Deep technical range and fluency with data
• Strong judgment in selecting between statistical models, heuristics, and optimization approaches
• Excellent communication skills to synthesize complex ideas for stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LLM fine-tuning and productionizing AI-based experiences
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, AWS, Snowflake, pandas, XGBoost, PyTorch, and HuggingFace
