Senior Applied Scientist

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of large-scale scientific systems
• Define and lead long-term technical roadmaps that align with Amazon Science's strategic goals
• Mentor and guide Applied Scientists, research interns, and cross-functional team members
• Collaborate with senior scientists, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions at scale
• Publish and present research findings internally and externally to contribute to scientific thought leadership
• Identify novel research directions and translate them into production-level systems for massive datasets

Requirements

• PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field, or Master's degree and 6+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java or Perl
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, or scipy
• Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop or Spark
