Senior Application Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable data solutions used across K2 Space from factory floors to mission control
• Create and evolve data design to improve spacecraft design, building, and operation
• Partner with engineers and business leaders to design efficient solutions
• Own data solutions from concept to full product lifecycle
• Lead data architecture designs, drive optimization, and ensure data integrity
• Evaluate and make decisions regarding competing data design tradeoffs
• Mentor staff members and help build engineering excellence and culture

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in STEM or 12+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience with data modeling and schema design
• Experience with data migration, ETL, and real-time data replication
• 8+ years of experience with MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or Snowflake
• 5+ years of experience with AWS RDS or AWS PostgreSQL
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD deployment
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (preferably AWS EKS)
• 3+ years of experience with NoSQL, Amazon DynamoDB, or MongoDB
• Experience with REST API

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed data designs such as caching and sharding
• Experience with public cloud data warehouse solutions
• Experience with data designs for physical product manufacturing
• Experience with AWS Redshift
