About the role
Responsibilities
- Deliver polished animation work for creatures, characters, and objects meeting creative intent
- Demonstrate mastery of animation principles including timing, weight, arcs, and posing
- Interpret creative direction and reference to build expressive performances
- Propose original motion choices to enhance storytelling
- Ensure animation is clean, functional, and export-ready for downstream departments
- Troubleshoot rigging or scene-related issues in collaboration with technical teams
- Maintain naming conventions and technical requirements per pipeline standards
- Communicate realistic time estimates and flag roadblocks proactively
- Participate in dailies and reviews to present work and respond to notes
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of experience in a VFX studio environment
- Strong proficiency in Maya
- Solid understanding of body mechanics and facial animation
- Ability to animate from reference and build compelling acting performances
- High attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
- Must be based in the Province of Quebec
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ShotGrid or other production tracking tools
- Knowledge of rigging fundamentals or custom tool development
