Senior Android Build System Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain build systems based on Android Automotive
• Minimize build times and optimize resource usage using methods like parallel/incremental processing and Bazel
• Integrate toolchains for various languages (Rust, C/C++, Java, Kotlin, Python, Go) and optimize performance for local and CI platforms
• Manage build dependencies, identify build errors, and provide appropriate solutions
• Ensure reproducible builds and comply with build image management, signing, and security requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in AOSP-based build system operation and optimization
• Proficiency with soong, ninja, bazel, make, kati, and related script management
• Experience with large-scale build log collection
• Extensive knowledge of Linux systems and scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.)
• Understanding of version control tools (Git) and git-repo/manifest
• Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of AOSP build system architecture, build caching, and distributed build systems
• Ability to use debugging tools such as adb and fastboot
• Experience with OTA update packaging
• Understanding of signing and security-related build processes
• Experience with Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) builds

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the automotive industry
• Experience with project management tools like JIRA
• Experience with artifact management tools and build automation tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Android CTS/VTS build and testing
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
