About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and build robust dbt models that serve as the foundation for analytics, machine learning, and customer-facing data products
- Own and evolve the semantic layer, defining metrics and business logic to support internal consumers and agentic tooling
- Partner with Engineering and Data Science to ensure the Snowflake data warehouse is well-structured and performant
- Establish and champion best practices for data modeling, testing, documentation, and code review
- Collaborate with product teams to deliver native warehouse data delivery to customers
- Proactively identify and address data quality issues by building observability and governance frameworks
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a closely related role
- Strong command of dbt and SQL
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse
- Experience building or maintaining a semantic layer or metrics layer (e.g., dbt Semantic Layer, MetricFlow)
- Strong understanding of data modeling fundamentals (denormalization, SCDs, etc.)
- Familiarity with data ingestion and CDC tooling
- Must be local to New York City and able to work a hybrid schedule (Tuesday–Thursday in-office)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with native warehouse data delivery or data sharing patterns (e.g., Snowflake Data Sharing)
- Background in fintech, financial services, or a similarly regulated, data-intensive industry
- Exposure to agentic or LLM-based workflows and supporting data infrastructure
- Experience with BI tooling such as Looker or Tableau
