Senior Analytics Data Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a YAML-based contract system for data entities and transformations
• Develop a translation engine to convert user contracts into dbt models, Airflow DAGs, and Snowflake objects
• Transition the platform to a dynamic, API-first architecture
• Build tooling and guardrails for self-service data deployment
• Optimize the translation layer for performance and cost-effectiveness in Snowflake/dbt
• Design and build data pipelines processing billions of records daily
• Develop and extend the Python-based Contract Interpreter using Pydantic and Jinja2
• Lead integrations with major social platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Meta
• Build and maintain the semantic layer using LookML
• Implement observability, monitoring, and data consistency checks
• Leverage AI agents and tooling to accelerate development workflows
• Train and mentor a team of software engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering
• Advanced SQL skills including performance tuning and complex transformations
• Proficiency in Python with experience in automation and libraries like Pydantic or Jinja2
• Deep experience with Snowflake (schema design, Snowpipe, streams, tasks)
• Experience with dbt (macros, custom materializations, incremental strategies)
• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow or Cloud Composer
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Flyway)
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with contract-driven or configuration-driven data platforms
• Experience with Looker and LookML
• Experience with Kafka and streaming data integration
• Experience with data quality and observability frameworks
• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code
• Familiarity with data mesh principles
