Senior Analyst – SCADA & Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage the flow of time-series data from site-level devices and RTUs to central historians and cloud databases.
• Ensure data pipelines are robust, scalable, and well-monitored.
• Act as the owner of data integrity by writing queries and scripts to detect stale data, flatlines, and anomalous readings.
• Monitor SCADA system health and investigate protocol-level communication failures (DNP3, Modbus TCP) and device offline events.
• Build and maintain interactive dashboards (Grafana, Power BI) to visualize SCADA health and data completeness.
• Maintain DNP3, Modbus, and MQTT point lists to ensure correct mapping to cloud data models.
• Assist in troubleshooting active power control (APC), reactive power control (RPC), and curtailment logic.
• Coordinate with SCADA integrators, network engineers, and software vendors to resolve technical issues.

Requirements

• 2–5+ years of experience bridging SCADA, control systems, and data engineering.
• Proficiency in SQL for querying relational databases and familiarity with time-series databases.
• Strong understanding of industrial and IoT communication protocols including Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, and MQTT.
• Experience querying, manipulating, and analyzing large sets of time-series data to identify trends and anomalies.
• Ability to trace data issues back to the network switch, gateway, or field device.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to utility-scale solar PV or BESS hardware such as inverters, PPCs, or revenue meters.
• Hands-on Python experience (Pandas, API integration) for automating data validation and ETL workflows.
• Experience with data pipeline and messaging tools like MQTT brokers, Node-RED, Apache Kafka, or Telegraf.
• Experience with platforms such as Canary, Ignition, or Power Factors.
• Basic understanding of IP addressing, VLANs, and edge firewalls.
