Senior Analyst – AI/Technology Development

About the Company

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States, managing approximately 11 gigawatts of contracted capacity.

Responsibilities

• Design and build LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows using frameworks like LangGraph or CrewAI
• Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Python using REST and gRPC
• Build LLM-driven automations for document intelligence, workflow copilots, and chat-to-action systems
• Integrate LLMs with structured and unstructured data sources, databases, and third-party APIs
• Own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle including design, testing, deployment, and observability
• Establish evaluation frameworks for LLM systems, balancing cost, latency, and reliability
• Ensure AI safety, prompt-injection mitigation, and PII handling
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate problems into production-grade AI solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• 2–4 years of software engineering experience
• Hands-on exposure to applied AI/LLM systems in production
• Strong Python expertise and experience building scalable APIs
• Experience with LLM SDKs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and agent frameworks
• Experience building lightweight UIs with React, Next.js, or TypeScript
• Strong ownership mindset for production system reliability and cost
