About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of signal processing and data analytics algorithms from concept through prototyping.
- Apply signal processing techniques to extract robust features from noisy, real-world sensor signals.
- Explore and apply machine learning techniques to improve measurement accuracy and reliability.
- Implement algorithms in production-quality code using embedded C/C++ or Python.
- Support the design transfer of algorithms into production firmware and cloud-based systems.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, clinical, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for algorithmic or signal-quality issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in signal processing, real-time algorithms, or embedded medical device software.
- Demonstrated expertise in physiological signal processing (filtering, feature extraction, noise removal).
- Strong proficiency in Python, C, or C++.
- Working knowledge of machine learning applied to time-series or sensor data.
- Experience with medical device software lifecycle processes (IEC 62304) and familiarity with ISO 13485 or ISO 14971.
- Proven ability to validate algorithms using large datasets and statistical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or data science field.
- Experience with optical (pulse oximetry), biopotential (ECG), or bioimpedance (EDA) monitoring.
- Familiarity with wearable or ambulatory devices such as Holter monitors or patches.
- Experience optimizing algorithms for low-power or resource-constrained embedded systems.
- Strong knowledge of systems physiology.
